When God Meets Us on the Club Floor: An EdenMade Reflection from our Executive Director

When God Meets Us on the Club Floor: An EdenMade Reflection from our Executive Director

Every EdenMade Night begins the same way: with prayer. Our team gathers, connects, and intercedes for the women we will meet that night. It’s a rhythm of community - women supporting women, strengthening one another before we go. Usually, I serve on the intercession team, staying back to pray while others enter the clubs. But last week, for the first time since 2021, I joined the outreach team walking inside.

What I experienced ministered to me as deeply as it did to the women we met.

Before we even reached the dressing room, a dancer spotted us. She jumped up with joy, nearly knocking over my teammate with her hug. Right there on the club floor, with customers and managers passing by, we  circled up in a three-way prayerful embrace, thanking God for her new season. She had just graduated, ready to step into the professional workforce and on her new pathway towards a bright future. We prayed blessing, favor, and open doors over her future, and made plans to celebrate together. It was a sacred moment in the most unexpected place.

Once we got inside the dressing room, joy overflowed as women opened gift bags filled with simple but intentional items like mascara, shower bombs, resource cards for housing and healthcare. But their favorite part? The handwritten prayer cards. Women held them close, telling us, “This is on my fridge.” “I keep mine in my mirror at home.” “This is my favorite part.”

“I don’t even know you – but I love you!”

What struck me most was how quickly I was embraced. Though many of the women didn’t know me personally, the trust built over the years with our EdenMade team meant I was immediately welcomed. It felt paradoxical. I don’t often experience that kind of uninhibited joy and hospitality when visiting churches. Yet here, in a strip club, I was met with it.

God spoke to me that night about community: what it means to truly celebrate each other’s open doors, to share in hope when one of us flourishes. EdenMade is not just about outreach; it’s about a shared vision of flourishing, healing, and dignity for women in San Francisco.

To my core, I believe in the power of women in community. I’ve seen what happens when women refuse to let one another walk alone — when we pray with each other through seasons of struggle, when we speak life over one another, when we call out the gifts and potential we can’t always see in ourselves. Honestly, I wouldn’t be where I am today without my Christ-centered sisterhood at BJM that has given me the keys to unlock my bright future.  These women stood beside me, reminded me of my worth when I had forgotten it, and kept pointing me back to who God says I am.

That kind of community is sacred. It’s the reason I lead the way I do, and it’s what I see mirrored every time our EdenMade team steps into the clubs: women cheering one another on, sharing hope, and celebrating the doors God is opening.

In the club last week, I was reminded that this is what the Kingdom looks like. When one woman flourishes, hope rises for all of us. My story may not look like theirs, but I know what it means to be lifted up by a community of women who refused to let me walk alone. And I’m sure, in some way, you can relate too.

An Invitation

This month, we celebrate 7 years of EdenMade. We’re growing, and we want you to be part of it. This fall, we’re opening new opportunities to join our volunteer team:

  • Prayer & Worship Night + Info Session (learn and pray with us for our EdenMade ministries)

  • Christmas Outreach (blessing women with gifts and presence)

  • New Cohort Launch in January (volunteers will train and grow together as they serve)

Whether you join the outreach team, intercession team, or help with preparation behind the scenes, you’ll experience God’s heart for women in powerful ways.

Now is the time to step in. The need is real, the doors are open, and hearts are ready. Together, let’s be the keys to unlock other women’s bright futures in San Francisco.
