One Year of Saying Yes: A Journey Through Scripture and Community.
One Year of Saying Yes: A Journey Through Scripture and Community.
This September marks one year since our Bible Study first began, and we can’t help but celebrate God’s faithfulness. What started after nearly two years of prayer—asking God where, when, and how to begin—has now become a life-giving rhythm of gathering, studying, and walking with Jesus together.
From the very first Sunday, when we opened the Sermon on the Mount over a shared meal, we sensed God was doing something special. We’ve grown from meeting twice a month to three times a month, with our final Sunday set aside as Selah—a pause to rest, reflect, and remember God’s presence. Along the way, we completed our study of the Sermon on the Mount and began exploring the life of Jesus through The Chosen, paired with Scripture, worship, and daily devotionals.
One Sunday, as we watched the wedding at Cana together, the room fell quiet with anticipation. Suddenly, a little girl sitting next to me cried out, “Jesus!” She said it again, louder this time—her face lit with recognition. It was a holy interruption, a reminder that sometimes the simplest faith sees Him most clearly. Later, in our discussion, a mother reflected on Mary, imagining what it must have felt like to urge her son forward in that moment. She reminded us that Jesus is not only the Son of God, but also a son who was faithfully loved and guided by His mother. Those reflections deepened our conversation and drew us closer to Him.
Moments like these have marked our year—unexpected voices, new perspectives, and sacred interruptions that remind us why we gather. Around tables and in prayer circles, through laughter and reflection, God has been forming us into a community that seeks Him together.
At Because Justice Matters, we believe transformation happens in community. Over the past year, we’ve intentionally committed to grow in prayer, leaning on one another to remain faithful in listening to God’s voice daily. We’ve reflected on forgiveness, recognizing how Jesus calls us to forgive—not as a duty, but as a pathway to freedom and healing. And we’ve seen how He meets each of us exactly where we are, offering restoration and hope, whether through shared stories, moments of vulnerability, or simply witnessing a child’s recognition of Him.
Looking Forward: Wonder and Expectation
As we step into this next year, we do so with wonder and anticipation—eager to see how God will move as we work with Jesus daily, seeking Him together as a community. We look forward to sacred interruptions, seeking Jesus together, discovering His Word, and conversations that shape our hearts and strengthen our community.
