Nail Day is the second Saturday of every month, all year.  Our monthly women’s outreach is much more than just a brief break from the streets; it has become a place where community is built.

We foster long-term relationships and connect with each person while we massage their hands and paint their nails. Women also enjoy quiet fellowship at the Art Table over coffee and refreshments. All of these connection points provide the opportunity to listen to their stories and their hopes for the future. Nail Day is a place where we offer support, loving conversation and prayer in a safe environment.

Whether you are new to Nail Day or have been doing it for a while, we invite you to come and share in our love for these women.

Join BJM for an elegant evening as we celebrate 10 years of positive transformation in the lives of women and girls in this city. This work has been accomplished through the faithful engagement of volunteers, staff members, donors, and partners since 2008! LEGACY will be the perfect opportunity to honor our supporters, reflect on what has been accomplished together, and share strategic vision for dynamic expansion!

You and your guests will enjoy live music, delicious cuisine, hosted beverages, newly choregraphed performances by our dance program girls, stories of personal transformation, an inspiring message from our founder, Ruthie Kim and another very special keynote speaker, Eugene Cho!

Born to immigrant parents in Korea and later raised here in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood, he has a deep affection for this city. As a Pastor, Speaker, Author and Founder of the non-profit One Days Wages, he shares our passion for justice. Eugene is a dynamic communicator, a prophetic voice to this generation and a huge advocate for women.

Perhaps most importantly, on this historic ten-year anniversary, you will have the opportunity to invest in the life-giving work of Because Justice Matters. Seating is limited, so please reserve your tickets today.

If you, your family, community group, company, church or organization would like to partner with BJM as a sponsor for this event, please contact malia@becausejusticematters.org.

Come Celebrate BJM’s 10th Anniversary!

2018 is a very special year for Because Justice Matters, and we are throwing a party you won’t want to miss. This year’s theme, ILLUMINATE, reminds us of the power of light, which not only drives out darkness, but makes things clear and bright. The theme reflects our new mission statement: “Because Justice Matters builds pathways to brighter futures for women and girlsin urban communities.”

In addition to a live band, dancing, and catered refreshments with hosted beer and wine, we’re proud to showcase newly choregraphed performances by BJM dance students. Throughout the evening, you’ll experience uplifting stories, and artful presentations which highlight hope and restoration, including the premiere of our brand-new video!

We are celebrating the many lives that have been touched through the work of BJM and we're excited to reflect on how much we’ve grown. Starting in San Francisco’s Tenderloin in 2008 with our legacy women’s outreach, “Manicure Mondays,” today, BJM offers a variety of sustainable, life-giving programs which empower women and girls to envision and pursue brighter futures within a caring, faith-based community.

Your support, together with other faithful BJM donors, partners, advocates, and volunteers, literally lights their way. So get your tickets now and get ready to celebrate with us on Thursday, May 31st.

This vibrant event takes place in the versatile SOMArts Cultural Center and Theater, enlivened by local artists, and women-led businesses. The ILLUMINATE Spring Social is our BJM’s strategic fun-raiser for 2018, raising vitally important financial support while providing opportunities to learn about and partner with BJM.

Ticket price includes:

  • Catered savory bites and dazzling desserts

  • Hosted wine, beer, and other refreshing beverages

  • Live band and dancing

  • New BJM dance performances, as well as performances by local artists including dance, music, and spoken word

  • Exhibits of photography and live painting

  • Premiere of a new and inspiring, BJM video

Please join us! By supporting BJM and sharing this invitation with your friends, family, and colleagues, you are making a lasting difference in the lives of women and girls in our community!
