Steady Transformation: Lula’s Journey at Azul
Transformation doesn’t always arrive loudly. Sometimes it looks like staying. Like returning. Like choosing growth again when you already know it won’t be easy.
That’s the kind of steady transformation we’ve witnessed in Lula.
Lula is, at her core, a creative. She lives in color. She notices beauty. She keeps up with music, fashion, and pop culture like it’s her love language. She’s magnetic in the way natural leaders are - warm, observant, and deeply engaging. People are drawn to her joy, but what makes Lula truly remarkable is the depth she has grown into.
Lula first joined Azul through an invitation from Gabby. What began as a simple “yes” to community slowly became something more intentional. She chose to stay because she wanted to build a real relationship with God - not just in theory, but in the honest, sometimes challenging, lived experience of faith.
Over the past year, Lula stepped into a season of deep reflection. She returned to Azul for a second year, this time as a student apprentice, embracing growth not as a destination but as a process.
At Azul and within the WildFlour community, Lula found an open door to express her creative self more fully than ever before. Parts of her identity that once went unseen were recognized, affirmed, and championed. She learned to sit with big questions - What does relationship with God look like for me? What does surrender require? What does faith feel like in tension?
Rather than rushing past those questions, Lula allowed them to shape her.
And that steady work is now visible in the way she lives and leads.
Today, Lula leads with quiet strength and authenticity. She has developed a remarkable ability to sit with deep emotions - both her own and others’. She speaks truth with transparency. She creates space for conversations about growth, creativity, and struggle that are honest and life-giving.
You can see her transformation in action throughout our community. She serves as a dance assistant, helps lead within WildFlour, and has become a trusted and welcomed voice wherever she is. Her leadership doesn’t demand attention - it invites connection.
What we celebrate most about Lula’s story is not a single breakthrough moment, but her willingness to keep showing up - to God, to community, and to her own becoming.
This is the kind of steady transformation we believe in at Azul and Because Justice Matters. Growth that unfolds over time. Creativity that is nurtured. Faith that is explored with honesty. Leaders who are formed not by perfection, but by presence.
Lula, we are so grateful you said yes again. Your journey strengthens our community, and your voice brings life wherever it is heard.
