Advisory Team Spotlight: Lydia Cruz
At Because Justice Matters, we believe lasting ministry is only possible because of people who walk alongside us—partners, friends, and leaders who give, pray, and invest in brighter futures with women, girls, and families. One of those people is Lydia Cruz.
Lydia is a San Francisco leader through and through. She works in tech, serves in ministry at Canvas Church, and pours her heart into her community. Seven years ago, she met BJM’s team and instantly knew she wanted to be part of what God was doing in the Tenderloin.
“What I love about BJM,” Lydia shares, “is that they never quit. When a need arises, they keep meeting it. When I first got connected, kids were just starting out in dance classes. Now those same kids are teenagers and young adults, and BJM has added more ministries to keep walking with them. You never age out of this family—and that’s what makes it so beautiful.”
As a member of our Advisory Board and a faithful monthly donor, Lydia has experienced firsthand how generosity fuels transformation. “Do not hesitate. How could you not want to contribute to an organization doing such great work? Every small amount counts. That’s why I set up recurring giving—I don’t even have to think about it. I just know my money is going to a great place, directly supporting families in the Tenderloin.”
We are so grateful for Lydia’s faith, vision, and partnership. Her story reminds us: BJM isn’t built by one person or one staff team—it’s a community, linked together, investing in God’s Kingdom here in San Francisco.
