Tenderloin

The Risk of Exploitation

The city, and specifically the Tenderloin is host to a vulnerable community of women.  Many face the risk of exploitation due to unique circumstances such as poverty and homelessness, substance abuse, violence and limited English.  All these factors can become opportunities for predators.

Because Justice Matters aims to reach out to these women.  By providing them with support and a safe place to talk, we offer them options and referrals they may not be aware of.  We are working to help them avoid exploitation before it can begin.

Women's Outreach Days

We host women's outreach days at our Tenderloin location every 3 months.  These days are designed to be a connecting place, where women can have fun and meet our staff and volunteers.  We use simple tools like free ice cream, hygenien kits, jewelry making and the offer of prayer.  Our past events have helped find housing for homeless women, referrals for domestic violence support and developed ongoing relationships with our staff.

Manicure Anyone?

Having their nails painted makes every woman feel good! We are currently using nail painting to engage with women in the Tenderloin of San Francisco. Many of them are trapped in prostitution, drug addicted and needing time out from the pressures of the street. Receiving a free manicure enables them to take a break, feel encouraged and allows our staff 15 minutes of uninterrupted conversation! This is a great way to offer spiritual support and referrals. Please consider making a donation of nail polish, polish remover or files to support this outreach. Our staff offer free nail painting every Monday afternoon for the women in the Tenderloin neighborhood.
