August Family Fun Day

On August 20, 2011 Because Justice Matters hosted their first family outreach. The event took place at the Tenderloin Children's Playground (570 Ellis St., San Francisco CA) and reached out to low income, immigrant families that live in the neighborhood. The event was a Family Fun Day, featuring tons of fun activities such as, face painting, a bounce house, games, balloon animals, and cotton candy for everyone! Each child also received a free healthy shake and a goodie bag filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year. Our goals for this outreach were to:

• Provide a safe and clean atmosphere for children to play in
• Connect families to resources
• Provide children with a healthy nutritious shake
• Extend an invitation to an upcoming parenting class planned for the Fall season
• Build ongoing relationships with families in our neighborhood

The event was a huge success! We had 189 children and 122 adults attend, with families coming from all over the world including, Yemen, Philipines, and Pakistan. Thank you to everyone who volunteered at, prayed for, or donated to the event!
