What is domestic violence?

Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior in a relationship used to gain power and control over an intimate other. Abuse can be physical, emotional, sexual, financial or psychological. It can happen to anyone of any ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender. It even crosses socio-economic and educational backgrounds.

What should you do if you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence?

If you are a victim of domestic violence, it is important to know that you are not to blame and you are not alone. There is help available and people who care.
